Thursday - May 29th, 2008 (In Denmark / Bakkan)

We've finally arrived in Denmark. It didn't take long before Cuz John P. put us to work. We were on a mission for a 2nd backseat for cuz John's Volvo. We drove to the local junk yard because there was a used seat available....but missing some parts, so we'll have to come back. We then drove to Amager Strand beach on the Oresund water. Its a link between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.

John with his favorite cousin...did I say that right? Yeah, I'm sure I did.

We then went home and Muriel WALKED and picked up the kids from school. Just about everyone here walks or rides their bikes to get around; its terrific. We then went to downtown Copenhagen (city center) to catch the subway and train to the Dyrehaven (forest) enroute to the Bakken amusement park.

The kids rode rides over & over while the adults seeked locations for beer...we never had to look far. Aunt Margit rode her bike 1 hour from her home to Bakken and joined us for dinner. Notice the reflectors on her tires to get her home safely.

Bakken is where we found our biggest beer yet...don't think I've ever seen my husband so happy.

We arrived home around 9:00 p.m. and put the kids to bed, as Emily & Theo are still in school.

Hello everybody, - left behind over there.
We are enjoying the company of the O's here. Had some pølser and visited Bakken.

Tuesday & Wednesday - May 27/28th, 2008 NYC in search of Balto

Woke up around 7:30 a.m. & had our free continental breakfast at the hotel then checked our baggage then went site seeing. Walked to Central Park in search of the statue of Balto the eskimo dog.

Found him; took some pics and then found a play area for Corey. The play area happened to also have water spayers so he was happy and soaked.

Afterwards we walked to Tavern on the Green and Corey took our picture. That's where John was planning to take us to dinner on Monday night (and where he proposed 10 yrs. ago).

We left NY for the airport at 2:30p.m.; arrived at 3:30p.m. for an 8:30p.m. flight. We left early for the airport because we didn't want to get stuck in NYC traffic.

Our flight to Iceland was on time and "fancy" according to Corey. There were touch screen tvs on the backs of the seats with movie, tv, music, documentary, info. on Iceland type options to choose from. This would have been a good time to get some sleep, but of course we didn't. Since Corey was turning 8 at midnight (5/28/08), I asked the stewardess if she had something from the airline that he could have, like a button. Instead at 00:00 she walked up to him with a small cake with raspberry sauce on the side, some chocolate candy and sesame goldfish. Very sweet. We also gave him 3 gifts that we had packed for him to unwrap.

We finally closed our eyes about 30 min's before landing, which was 6:30 a.m. Iceland time. We then caught our next plane at 7:45 a.m. to Denmark. We arrived in Denmark at 1:00 and finally got our luggage and hooked up with my cousin John and his daughter Emily around 2:00. We're here!

Monday - May 26th - NY & Re-Proposal

Arrived around in 2:00 p.m. at the Sheraton Hotel in NYC. Hotel is 1 block off of Broadway. Temp. around 70. Our room is on the 46th floor and has a view of Time Square and some of Radio City music hall - very cool. We quickly changed clothes and hit the streets. We ate a late lunch at Ray's pizza; which I thought was a hole in the wall place. It was great. But after doing more walking we saw about a dozen more Ray's Pizza's - not so unique after all, but still yummy. John then bought himself and Corey a pretzel and warm nuts...a must buy food from the street vendors.

John had everyone dress up later that evening for dinner reservations at 7:00 and a "surprise".

Dinner plans soon changed as Corey was running on less than fumes and really needed some sleep. So John instead performed his surprise at the hotel. Corey's role was to take his Star Wars light saber apart and pull some plastic flowers out of it. He handed them to me, as John got down on 1 knee and proposed all over (our 10 yr. anniv. is May 31st). He bought me a replacement wedding ring. Sorry the pic is blurry. The ring is very beautiful...John did great.. We then went to dinner a couple of blocks over and to bed around 8:30 p.m. - very tired. Below are some more random pics of N.Y.

The countdown begins...

It's 5 days until we leave and Jeanine thought it would be a good idea for me to blog our trip. Never done this before, but I'll give it a go. I'm not sure how much detail to post or not post, but I will do my best to let you in on our experience. Enjoy!
